Mila: 40 weeks old…
Hello there. Our little Mila is now 40 weeks old! And according to this blog, she is still on our road trip!

This is actually our last week on the road. Just a few more days and we will be home. Our week started off in beautiful Colorado.

Mesa Verde to be exact! And you thought this awesome place only existed in Indiana Jones. Or was that me?

Here is Mila cooling off in the Mesa Verde Museum, showing off her new skills. Pointing! Or maybe she is trying to pick a new daddy since hers is embarrassing her with all his sunscreen. JK!

As soon as Mila sees food, she starts grunting. Especially with peaches and bananas.

She still loves her sister’s hair but is doing more holding that pulling these days.

Mila’s favorite time of day seems to be mornings. Especially when her big sister is asleep. Because she gets to play with all of Ava toys on the nightstand.

And once Mila gets a hold of something, she turns around and gives me this look. The “I know I’m in trouble but who cares” look. Love it. This is my favorite moment of the day. And I am going to miss it when we get home.

From Colorado, we headed to Four Corners next. But no one told us that it was under construction. (Insert sad face here.) But we made the best of it and took a picture in Utah. This is Mila’s first time in Utah. Dan and I went once for work. And Ava was there too but in my belly.

Next stop, the majestic Grand Canyon. Seeing in at sunset was amazing. Sure Mila won’t remember but the rest of us will. And she had a blast!

Okay, I’m sure she didn’t see the huge hole in the ground but she still had fun doing her favorite things. Like pulling Dada’s sunglasses off of his face and scratching the lens with her two bottom teeth.

And entertaining everyone on the bus with her awesome fart sounds.

She is also pulling herself up pretty well and is starting to cruise around a bit too.

And food-wise, she starts grunting even if Ava doesn’t feed her fast enough.

And forget baby food jars. She insists on finger foods. (And chewing on wipes if she can grab one fast enough.)

And on our last day of the trip, Mila fell asleep with Yoda. This hasn’t happened in months.

After the Grand Canyon, it was starting to get unbearably hot. Too hot to enjoy the desert. No point of staying cooped up in the Airstream all day. Right?

So we drove and drove out of the desert and got home super late.We parked the Airstream on the street and slept in it one last night. Mila has been on the road for over 4 months. I doubt she remembers life in a real house. Here she is on our last morning in the Airstream. Planning on stealing Ava’s bed buddies. With that look. Oh that look. I seriously love it.

Then we were home. With space to crawl. She just sat on the carpet for a bit. Not knowing what to do with all this space.

But before long, she was crawling around the house… so out came out the coral.

If you haven’t noticed, Mila is still sucking on her two fingers. It’s comforting to her. And especially useful with all the changes happening now that we are home.

Deets came up to visit on our first day back. Ava missed him a ton. And Mila? Give her some time. At least she wasn’t crying. ![]()

But then it was nap time. And crying time. Where the hell am I, Mama?!?!?! Let’s just say she didn’t sleep much during the day.

But at night time, both girls went to bed without a peep. Not one peep.

The next day, Mila was enjoying the house more and more.

And discovered that she had a new buddy named Cole.

At this age, Ava refused to walk on grass. This is actually how we got her to take her first steps. Right at this spot on Halloween as a ladybug. But is Mila scared of a little grass?

So now that we are home and not on the road, we will try to not focus on the end of our trip but the beginning of being at home. With lots of laughing…

… and trying to figure out how to get this one to nap in her crib.

And watching Mila use all the chairs in the house as walkers.
