Ava: 164 weeks old…
Hi there. Our traveling Ava is now 164 weeks old!

There you are! Did you miss me??

So this week we are in New Orleans and Ava is having trouble keeping her eyes open for pictures.

Even while eating her new favorite things in the world. Beignets! Or as she calls them ‘sugary donuts‘.

Ava spent lots of time at the City Park. Specifically at Storyland.

And slid down this Jack and Jill slide a million times. It’s hard to tell just by the picture but this slide was super steep. I swear her bottom didn’t touch the slide until the very bottom.

We did a lot of walking in the French Quarter and occasionally took the street cars too. Notice the fingers in her ears? That’s because it was ‘too loud‘. Her new thing.

We tried to go see the WWII museum but it was about to close. But we gave Ava a chance to run around the lobby instead for a few minutes. She actually met a little boy her age and they ran and ran and ran.

Then it was time for sugary donuts again. Look at that face. You can tell she loves them.

In order to get to the French Quarter from our campground, we took a ferry across the Mississippi River. And did Ava sit there quietly? Nope. It was gymnastics time. The balance beam to be exact.

We spent a couple days visiting graveyards… which she actually enjoys. Not sure if she gets what this place is but we talk about it. And our conversations usually end with her telling me that she misses Rudy.

So we got to the museum again but this time we were early and there was no running around today with new friends.

Today she was bored bored bored.

And then the following day, it rained. Sorry Ava!

But she didn’t mind too much because I let her use the dust buster. She loves that thing.

And she got to paint indoors too.

Down the street from the campground was a little seafood market. Ava was weary of the alligator head in this booth.

But she sure loved the food Dada cooked up. She ate half of that fish all by herself and fell in love with shrimp.

Since we were in New Orleans for a week, we broke up our sightseeing into shorter segments. On one of the last days, we took a horsey ride around the city to catch all the little details that we missed ourselves… and Ava almost got to feed the mule a carrot. She chickened out at the last second.

And then we continued to walk and walk.

And all this sightseeing is really tuckering her out. She never takes naps back at home. But on this trip she sure takes a lot in the car. And she sleeps like a lady too. Check out those legs! Hehe.

Ava has been missing Deets this week… so we set up some time for them to chat and for a personal concert too.

And some time to make crazy faces too.

Next stop… Alabama. The USS Alabama to be exact!

Not a very kid friendly place but we had no where else to go while en route to Florida. It’s not easy to find parking with the Airstream.

But she did like going into the submarine there and pretending to sleep in ‘up and down beds‘.

And that night in Mobile Alabama, a lady tried to slip us a couple bucks since we are living in our trailer… and then Ava told us about a party next door. And not just any party. A ghost party!!!! Awesome. Welcome back my little ghost hunter!!! And now off to Florida. See you next week! Bye!
