Yup, still on our road trip. We had this mustache from a past Arizona road trip stuck in the car for over the year now. It has finally fell off. But man, does that thing hold some awesome memories.
broken fake mustache.

So this week began at the Gulf Coast of Texas. The thing we’ve learned is that going to the visitor’s centers are good starting points for us. At this one, Ava is learning about all kinds of things that live on the beaches.

Thanks for the info but we had to see this for ourselves. Hello there, Gulf Coast.

Ava loves asking us to draw things on the sand for her. Today her request was a drawing of Dada. What big ears you have, Dada!

Ava only had a few more days left with her pal Sophia. So they spent lots of time bonding over sand and shells.

At our current RV Resort, Ava and I had some Mommy-and-me time and we decided to run laps at the shuffle board courts.

And then she asked me to run while she sat on the bench. And when I was all done, she stood up, clapped and screamed ‘Bravo!‘. Hmmm, is that what I do? I guess so!

These two loved singing together.
american idols.

And screaming ‘You can’t catch me!‘.
screaming.

And they even got into a little trouble too. Why, Ava? Why?
trouble.

The bus in Port Aransas, Texas was a bit unusual. Not only did it have seat belts but it also had lollipops. Now every time we go in other city buses, she is expecting candy. Thanks Port Aransas Transit!

Ava has started to become super animated. Using her hands more and more while talking. Sorta like jazz hands. LOL. And look at this face. Mmmm Mmmm good.
so. good.

I was really surprised to find out that Texas has tons of bayous in them. Even one called Chocolate Bayou! Some of the bayous had giant sharks in them.
great white shark.

And some had alligators too. Chomp chomp.

And on their last day together, Ava and Sophia made smoothies together…
smoothie.

…and had one final good-bye hug in the rain. Sniffle sniffle.
hug good-bye.

We were then on our own. What to do. What to do. Back to talking afternoon strolls.
walk.

And listening to Dada talk and talk and talk.
ava and dada.

No more talking Dada.
no talking dada.

It’s a little windy here on the Gulf Coast. Not hurricane windy but windy enough to make a little tear.
single tear.

Did you think the Gulf of Mexico is always warm? Yeah, me too. Good thing I over packed, huh?!?!
us girls.

Ava LOVES her little sister. But not when Mila sticks her toys in her mouth.
sisters.

And she still loves pretending to make Mila talk by squeezing her cheeks.

Wildlife Alert! We spotted our first armadillo this week. Not in Texas either. But in New Orleans! We didn’t get too close to this guy since we didn’t want to spook it. A few minutes later, 3 dogs danced practically on top of the armadillo and it didn’t flinch at all.

We got Ava her first laptop this week to help her learn her ABCs… like the one Sophia had. It is still a bit frustrating for her but she’ll get the hang of it eventually.
