Ava: 162 weeks old…
Hi. My little ladybug is now 162 weeks old.

At the start of the week, we were still New Mexico and Ava was soooo excited to have a “fancy” cup at lunch.

And then after lunch we crossed to border into Texas and drove safely past El Paso to a truck stop… which ended up being abandoned. But no worries! We have our home with us. And push pops too!

Ava knows the new campsite routines by now. Set up the Airstream and then go explore. Here she is walking and singing “follow the leader” from one of her favorite movies, Peter Pan.

The campground at Balmorehea had a huge old school metal slide that she conquered.

And also a natural spring pool with fishes… that she did NOT conquer.

Even with her friend Sophia there, she still did not even want her pinky toe to touch the water.

So out of the pool she went and the art bin came out. Much to her delight.

At dinner, she showed Sophia how much more fun eating a hot dog can be if you put it on a stick.

Then it was time to hit the road again. Making a pit stop at Burger King where they had a massive structure. And yes, she freaked out on it and Dada had to go in to save her.

And then Mila needed a break so it was pit stop #2 in a random Texas town. But she didn’t mind. She got to see all her friends as pinatas.

And we got to practice spotting all the Texas state shapes all over town.

The next day it was time to explore some caves in Sonora. She was super pumped in the gift shop.

But in the cave, after about 10 minutes, she was too hot and too tired and too thirsty and too bored.

So afterward, we panned for some gold. Much more fun than a booooring cave.

It was then time to say good-bye to her buddy for a few days while we explore Austin and they explore San Antonio.

We made it Austin. And even bought her a pink scooter.

But you know what? It started snowing. The first time in like 60 years. Nice timing, huh?

Out in restaurants, Ava is obsessed with eating lemon slices and ice. We have to be extra careful that cups of water don’t go flying.

And she is a good little shopper. She pulls on clothes in stores and asks me to try them on. “Do you like this Mama?”. And then waits patiently in the dressing room with me. And no, I don’t drag her all time. I am lucky if I get to this with her once a month.

We also visit bookstores when we can. She would stay there all day if we let her. Having us read every book in sight.

Did you think we could go to Austin without getting a cupcake from the famous Airstream bakery? I think not!

We also went into an American Apparel store in Austin where she picked out this outfit. From head to toe.

On this road trip, we do a lot of walking. And when Ava gets tired, she usually tells us by saying “I have tired legs“.

And look at Ava pretending to run through it like Snow White.

We spent one cold evening waiting and waiting for bats to come out from under this bridge. But they never came out. Mama was sad.

The snow and rain stopped by the end of our stay in Austin for Ava to try out her scooter. But the road was “too bumpy“.

Posing on couches with her little sister.

And posing on a wall at the Alamo. She totally did this pose herself and then asked me to take a picture. Hehe. I wonder what the locals thought of her awesome outfit?!?!

And if anyone asks her how old she is, she busts out this pose.

Our day trip in San Antonio ended with the best thing she has ever seen. Cinderella’s waggy. Oh how she wanted to go on this. But it was too cold and late. Sorry Ava.
