Ava: 144 weeks old…
Howdy. Our silly Ava is now 144 weeks old.

This week was a long one. So, grab a snack… and maybe a drink… and enjoy.

On Saturday, my dad showed up bright and early to help us fix a few things around the house. Thanks Dad! You know why this photo is awesome? Not only because we now have a functioning and lockable side door on our garage. But because Dan woke bright and early too… and it shows. Yawn. And it is also awesome because Ava is rocking that head lamp and totally KNOWS it.

And inside of the house, Nona got to hang out with her favorite granddaughters. Yes, they might be her only granddaughters but they are totally her favorites. Trust me. She got help Ava decorate more pumpkins…

… and helped her paint up a storm.

And I should also mention Nona’s juha (soup). Ava very favorite thing to eat.

Later that afternoon, we got Ava ready for a costume birthday party. She was so excited to wear her Tinkerbell costume before Halloween.

That is, until she decided her sleeves were ‘too sparkly‘. WTF? Too sparkly she said. How is that even possible?!?!

So, Tinkerbell was out and Cinderella was in.

And good thing she changed because another Tinkerbell showed up to the party. That could have been sooo embarrassing.

Ava was so excited about cake time. She ran into the house and grabbed a seat around the table. And then the crowd started to sing. In Portuguese. And Ava turned toward us with her ‘what the?‘ face… and we couldn’t help but giggle.

But soon enough, it was time to sing in English… and enjoy the cake.

And as if our Saturday wasn’t busy enough, we packed up the Airstream and hit the road. First stop, Nicole’s house… to play with her adorable nephews. These three haven’t had one on one time since that trip to San Felipe many moons ago.

On Sunday, we were fed yummy food and got to play Rock Band. And when I say we, I mean they. Because I suck. Bad.

The kids got into playing their ‘instruments’ too.

Later that afternoon, we climbed back into the van and drove down tothe Palm Springs area for some camping. Ava had her art and crafts tent to play in. Dan had his laptop to work on. Nicole had her book to read. And I had my camera ready.

We spend our days in the Airstream fairly similar to how we spend them at home. Mila and I get out of bed as soon as Ava wakes us up. We hang out in the other room, letting Dada catch up on his beauty sleep. And Yoda, sitting at the window. Waiting for some type of animal to walk or fly by.

Then it’s time to make ice cream and snails with our play-doh.

And put together a princess puzzle or two.

But while on our trips, we do get to enjoy lunch outside.

And have occasional lakeside views.

We got to stare at a lake. Waiting for those jumping fish to make splash.

During our trip, we taught Ava about reflections. She thought they were silly. She thinks a lot of things are silly these days. But if we tell her she is silly, we whips her head to her shoulder, pulls out her bottom lip and says ‘Uhhh! I’m not silly!‘. Weirdo.

The one very strange thing about Palm Springs in the month of October is that all of the public water parks and pools are closed. And once again. WTF?!?! I guess 92 degrees is way too cold for swimming with these snow birds. And once again. Weirdos.

But luckily we found a park near by with water fountains for Ava to run in.

But we might have found a pool or two after all on this trip… but you’ll have to wait until Ava’s next post to see. Bye!
