P1110036

Hello there. Our little Mila is now 6 weeks old.
looking.

This week was kinda a slow week for Mila. Lots of rain in southern California. So we stayed indoors a lot since she can’t hold an umbrella yet.

But that’s okay. It meant more snuggles and eskimo kisses.
P1100975

Eric did stop by over the weekend to meet Mila for the first time.
P1100931

And we did take her to her first pumpkin patch… but no pictures.
P1100946

Someone slept through the whole thing… as usual.
P1100956

And Ava showed Mila all of the stuffed animals in her vast collection. But she didn’t think it was so fun for some strange reason.

And Mila’s week wouldn’t be complete with some type of dermatological issue. Say hello to cradle cap.

But this time I had a plan. Michelle told me about a little trick… olive oil. With the disclaimer that she thinks it made Grace’s hair fall out. Hair smair, I say. So I poured the best stuff in the house on Mila’s scalp. (Nicole… not in a million years did you think we’d use your fancy smancy oil for dipping bread… and a scalp massage, did ya?!?!)

And guess what? It worked. Not only did it get rid of her cradle cap…

… it also allowed us to see how Mila looks without her hair sticking straight up. Hehe. Bye!

For now…

Ava loves Dora and Boots. When we play together, she always wants to be Dora and asks me to be Boots. I often wonder what is going to happen when she has to share them with Mila.

Luckily Mila loves being Boots… for now.

Both of our girls had their first portraits taken at the hospital around 24 hours of age.

Here is Mila. Wide awake.

Tricked ya!

Hi. I’m Ava. And no, you are not drunk. Not yet. The picture is a little blurry because I am about to eat it.
P1100808

Ahhhh. I fell down.
P1100809

And it really hurts.

Just kidding.

Ava: 142 weeks old…

moons for eyes.

Hello there. Our little Ava is now 142 weeks old. AHHHHHH!!!
P1100495

The week began with a little heat wave.  And what do we do when it gets too hot at our house? Invite ourselves to Grace and Cole’s pool. That’s what!

We spent a lot time at the parks in town this week. Dan can not push Ava high enough on the swings these days. She likes to scream ‘puno faster‘ (a.k.a. a lot faster) and ‘I wanna touch the sky‘.

And she especially enjoys the park when Grace is there to play with her. Here they are climbing up…
climbing.

… and sliding down. Weee.
wee.

Our friend Mikey stopped by to meet Mila and check out Ava’s new Snow White outfit. And speaking of Mikey… a.k.a. Mikey Spikey… I have been trying to explain rhyming to Ava this week. She thinks it is so funny that I try to rhyme words like her friend Moose on TV. She likes when I say Mama Llama and Dada Kada. (Kada means bath tub in Croatian.) So the next day, when I asked her what rhymes with Dada… she looks at me and says ‘Dada bath tub‘. HAHAHAHAHA. Awesome.

Since we are now in October, it is time to decorate the house with Halloween decorations.

She wasn’t too sure about this skeleton when we bought it at the store. Or as she calls it the ‘pelican‘.
scary skeleton.

And when we put it together and hung it up, she refused to look at it. Too spooky.
boo.

Some of the silly things she has been doing this week includes reading this Elmo book and telling me that these two monsters are Carrie and Deets. Must be the purple hair and track suit.
deets and carrie as monsters!

And she is starting to insist on sitting at the big girl table, like she does at restaurants now. The day she chose to sit at the dining room table at home was on spaghetti night. Not spaghetti night, Ava. Oh man!!
ava asked to sit at the big table today...

And look at this. A pony tail. Neigh!

And look at this. Oh oh. It happens to the best of us.

Here is Ava during our project of the week. She really insists on helping with every step.
P1100719

And here it is. All done. Her new kitchen. Which takes up so little room. It just rolls up. Love it.

And she loves her new shopping cart. It not only carries groceries around the house but also carries her books from the bookshelf to her bed for quiet time.

Oh, and we got her a pumpkin this week too.
P1100756

But no need for carving tools.
face.

Say hello to Princess Potato Head!
silly faces.

Also this week, Ava got to meet Dan’s cousin Mike and show off her toys in the Airstream too.
P1100797

I also took Ava to reading time at our local library. But low and behold it was animal day instead. She got to pet a dog, a couple turtles…
P1100801

… and a snake too. This kid has no fear of animals (unless they start eating her dress, of course).
Touching a snake

And check out her first rainbow. Ahhh.
Ava's first rainbow

And you how Ava says that ‘Dada govori puno‘ (a.k.a. Dada talks a lot)? Well she took care of that this week.

AWESOME!!
