122 weeks old…
Friday, May 22nd, 2009Hello there. Our little Ava is now 122 weeks old!

When we pick up Ava from school, I always have the camera ready to catch her in action. It’s hard to take in-focus pictures because she immediately runs to us when she sees us. Sometimes Ava is at the table, drawing with her school mates.

Sometimes she is outside in the play yard, holding frisbees.

And sometimes, she is finishing a snack and washing up in the restroom.

Last Friday, it was Yoda’s birthday. Ava woke up in the morning, ran to a sleeping Yoda and sang her Happy Birthday. After school, we drove her to the pet store to pick out a gift. Her choice.

And she choose a starfish. One of her favorite things in the world. Yoda appreciated the new toy… and especially the cat nip inside of it.

As you probably noticed last week, our weekly play date has expanded to include a couple new boys. So the current kid tally is up to 5 now. And will jump to 6 in September. Oh boy! I wonder if this mystery kid is going to tie up the number of girls versus the boys or tip the scale in favor of the boys. Only time will tell.

Ava had a blast playing with all of Matheus’ toys. Like kicking his soccer ball into the net.

When the ball didn’t quite make it there, she just picked it up and threw it in. Yellow card!

The girls also had a chance to climb into a tree house. Everything was going fine…

…until I told Ava to be careful of the edge because she could fall. After that, she wanted OUT.

The girls tried to go down the slide together… but it didn’t go as smoothly as they planned. Hehe.

Oh, and Ava reached a new milestone. She enjoyed the swings and actually screamed FASTER! Yeah!!

On Saturday, we drove up to Santa Barbara for a haircut for myself and some park time for these two. But when they got to the park, the park was filled with bounce houses, ponies, and all kinds of fun. It was a Children’s Festival… and it was all free!!

Ava had a blast holding starfish and pointing out that Nemo lives in an anemone.

She also got to hold a sea urchin for the first time. The spikes did not scare her off one bit. Probably because they were purple. Keep that thing away from Dada’s foot!

Out of all the face painting choices, Ava chose a shooting star. I guess stars were the theme of the week.

The Coast Guard, the Police and the Firefighters were also at the park. Dada really tried to get her interested in the Coast Guard’s inflatable boat but Ava was more into the big red fire truck.

And she a new fire hat and badge to prove it.

Time for a back yard update. All the plants are doing fine but Ava is not really interested in watering them anymore. She is now into watering the dirt… and creating mud… and jumping in it. Oh boy!

Ava is still obsessed with ice cream. So when she is a good girl, we take her out to 31 flavors.

Here we are at swim class #6. She is starting to jump from the edge without holding onto my hands.

Check out how far she can jump! Splash!!

We also has a second play date dinner at our house last night. It was a tight squeeze but we managed to fit all 10 people somehow. Here is Ava handing out sidewalk chalk to everyone.

On Wednesday, Ava refused to put her shoes on for school. This is why I am late for work in the mornings (if you are reading, boss).

A few hours later, I got a call from school that Ava had the cha-cha-chas and needed to picked up. So we spent a lot of the remainder of the week in our pajamas on the couch. Neither one of us complained too much.

Once she was feeling a little better, it was time to pick up a few things at Target. We somehow ended up in the sports aisle and Ava insisted on playing baseball… with a Dora bat of course.

And at home too. How could we not buy it after all the fun we had with it in the store?

I forgot to mention that Ava had a pretty big fall this week. She tripped on the door mat and landed on our concrete step. Chin first. It’s been black and blue all week but it doesn’t seem to be bothering her. And one more anouncement. After 10 months of blogging EVERY DAY… for 10 months… did I already say that?… I will be taking weekends off. Just the weekends. We will still be here every Monday thru Friday. Don’t worry. Okay, gotta run. Have a nice weekend!!
