Ahoy mate!! Our little Ava is now 110 weeks old.

In case you can’t tell, we went camping again this weekend. We were invited by a family to join the FOTR West Coast Rally in Newport. We actually ‘camped’ in a fancy RV Resort with the Back Bay as our front yard.

Since it was a rally for families on the road, they had tons of activities for the kids all weekend long. Over the course of the weekend, each family took turns hosting an art or hobby at their site. Ava got to paint seashells…

…and put googly eye on them.

She was proud of those two shells all day long.

There were well over 30 kids at the rally. All the kids got heart necklaces and were separated by age group. Here is Ava playing some type of African drum that I can’t remember the name of.

She also got the chance to build sand castles with her Dada. Her favorite part was putting a flag atop each tower.

During our first night there, under the weather Nicole (cough cough) stopped by for some quality godmother-godchild time. She got to experience a napless Ava at dinner. Let’s just say she refused to eat and dropped her flautas on the floor.

Mikey also stopped by during the next day. Me and my pregnancy brain forgot to take a picture of him. It’s been happening a lot lately. But I did get a picture of the aftermath. Four empty Karlova?ko beers that only cost $2.49 each. What is that in kunas again? All I know is that I didn’t have any… but I sure did have my fair share of BBQ Chicken pizza. Yum.

And guess who had her first face painting? AVA!!! She wasn’t too sure of what was happening at first. But once she found out it was going to be a butterfly, she couldn’t stop talking about it all night long.

Seriously. All night long.

And what is going on here? Besides Ava talking about her butterfly, of course…

A limbo contest. And we totally cheated. And I am 100% okay with it.

Ava loves playing with her toys in the Airstream. We have a mixture of old toys and new toys in there. Here she is playing match with her Dada.

On the second day of the rally, it was our turn to host an art event at our site. We had no idea what to do so we ran to Target in the morning and bought tons of play-doh. The little kids had fun making patties and balls. Dan was in charge of keeping all the kids entertained while I took Ava around to the other art stations. By the time art and crafts were done, Dan had made an entire monster graveyard with the older kids. Not sure who was having more fun at our ‘kids’ station.

Most of the other families were a bit more creative than us. One of Ava’s favorite activities was making her very own ice cream. She got to shake a zip-locked milky mixture that sat in a larger zip-locked bag of ice. After 5 minutes of shaking the crap out of it, Ava had ice cream. Don’t ask how it happened. It was a miracle. A real miracle.

She also got to play bocce ball with the other kids her age. Truthfully, I am surprised no one got knocked out. They were throwing those balls around as if they were balloons or something.

That afternoon we hit the local outdoor mall for a change of scenery and a merry-go-round ride. Dada has never had a chance to take Ava on one of these alone so now was his chance.

Back at daycare, Dan is still a big hit with the kids. They should seriously consider hiring him for entertainment. Oh, and I have a story. One of the teachers came into Ava’s twaddler room to scoop up a few kids for a walk through the halls. I guess the teacher picked four of her friends and she had to stay behind. So Ava ran across the room, grabbed a chair and threw it. WWF style!! The other teacher was so surprised. She has never seen Ava angry before. Welcome to the terrible twos, my friend. Welcome.

Our house is still full of monsters. Especially THE MILKY MONSTER. This is how Ava looks at the moment she ‘sees’ a monster. Then, she puts her hand out (Swiper the fox style) and yells ‘go away monster, go away’. And then she screams like a little girl and either runs away or looks for shelter under a pillow. It is so ridiculous and we love every second of it.

Ava also had a play date with Grace this week. Grace showed Ava some crazy dance moves, like twisting and kicking. Ava has a lot to learn.

Afterward, they enjoyed some frozen yogurt together. Sprinkles, yummm.

And if you ever wonder what Ava says to grocery clerk when asked ‘paper or plastic?’, Ava always says ‘I brought my own bag thank you very much’. She really didn’t say that but she was totally thinking it. Totally. Bye!
