Hi.
Hi.

Did you get my message? Ava is now 74 weeks old.
Hello?

So, this week was Father’s day weekend. On Friday, Dan and Ava had a special breakfast at school together, where they ate grapes and eggs with veggies. Yumm. And she gave him a picture of herself in a purple sparkley frame. His favorite color. hehe.

Ava is now aware of our shadows. When we take walks, she loves pointing to our shadows and screaming Mama or Dada. Here is our family shot…. at the Target parking lot of all places.
Family Shadow

We have been really busy trying to get ready for our trip so we have been out and about quite a bit. One of our stops this week was to gather some supplies from Babies R Us. Here is our sweetheart sitting next to Ernie, waving and telling him Byeeee as we enter the store..
Byeeee

Here is our not-so-sweet Ava leaving Babies R Us. When we asked her to put away the popper toy so we can leave, she refused. When we took it away from her, she proceeded to throw herself onto the middle of the floor. We should of been really embarrassed and picked her up… but being the photo bloggers that we are, we frantically tried to pull the camera out of its case and capture the moment instead…. giggling and yelling hurry.
Ava's first toddler tantrum

Here is Ava’s ‘why isn’t this working?’ look. Well, my little firecracker… we are not falling for your tantrums. We officially welcome you to toddler-hood today… just in time for our 11+ hour flight overseas. Fun times are head, I’m sure. Fun times.
Is this working?

Our little toddler has stopped saying mine and now says my instead. She was in her room the other morning, standing next to her armoire, and was repeating my babeee over and over again. So, I opened the armoire door and Ava pulled out her baby, which she previously didn’t have much interest in. Here is Ava and my babeeee.
My Baby

On Saturday, we did a little shopping with Nona Ester. Ava had a blast modeling hair accessories.

Oh La La

Ohoh. Who turned off the lights?!?
Where did I go?

After our shopping expedition, Ava enjoyed some yummy food… up until this pesky fly got into the house and would not leave Ava alone. She was not too happy about it. I guess not all things with wings are her friends.
Fly on face. Crying.

But winged birds are still her friends. Here is Ava trying to share a chip with Baby and Gretel.

Oops. Chip in the water. Sorry Carrie.

Ava was not the only one intrigued by these feathered visitors…. so was Little Buddy…. whom I can’t stop calling Uncle Buddy, by accident. I slip so many times, that David even said it once. He should consider filling out an official name change request soon.

Ava got to spend some time with Uncle David. He tested Ava by showing her a pictures of himself and she passed. She said Day when he pointed to himself in pictures. But when he pointed to himself, Ava didn’t let out a peep. Time for plan B.
Coffee Break

While Ava was napping, Uncle David shaved in order to look more he did in those pictures. But Ava slept and slept. She slept so long that we had to wake her up from her nap so it wouldn’t interfere with bedtime. So, David insisted that he get her up to show off Plan B but it backfired. Ava was pissed off when he got her up. Pissed off at him. Pissed off at me. Pissed off at her milk. Pissed off at the world. So, to try to change her mood, we sat around as David played guitar and sang her songs. It took a lot of singing to turn that frown upside down. After an hour or so, David was gone and Ava finally was back to her old self. She walked up to the front door, pointed and repeated Day several times. In the morning, she woke up and the first word she said was Day. I told her that Day wasn’t here but I would let him know that Plan B worked. Big time.
Ava, Mama and Uncle David

On Saturday night, Ava and I drove back home so we can spend the day with her Dada. They had fun chatting about Dora and Boots.
Laughing together.

Dada even gave her another surf lesson. Looking good Ava.
Surf's Up

Also this week, Ava got a chance to join Dada in a video conference. Here she is chatting with Jeremy and his new laptop that allows you to throw bubbles over your image. Ava loved pointing and yelling bubbles. But when he changed his appearance so he would be wearing a cartoon werewolf mask, Ava screamed in horror. Nice one Jer. First the tag and now this. Geez. ;-)
Video Conference

Ava’s love of the puž muž game was replaced with the DoDo Da game. It involves placing Dora in her purse and walking around the room repeating DoDo Da. DoDo is her car sound and Da is for Dora. Makes sense. Dora is on the move. Oh, and I MUST be holding my purse too and walking around with her. Toddler rules.
Do Do Da

I took Ava for a check-up this week, just to make sure she is nice and healthy before our travels. Not only did she pass with flying colors, she also weighs 26 pounds 6 ounces now. Ava was busy babling when the doctor walked into the room and asked if Ava alway talks this much. I said yes and said she has a 40+ word vocabulary. Boy was she impressed. Ava has 7 new words this week. Ready? Here you go: milk, tree, gore (for up), caj (short for car), nani (for bedtime), hot, and kruh (for bread).

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Byeeeee.
